Use Homebook for its intended purpose — running your household's books with the people you live with — and we'll do our best to keep the service running. Don't try to break it, abuse it, or use it to harm anyone else. It's provided as-is.
By creating an account or using Homebook (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Homebook ("we," "us").
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
You're responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. Don't share your password. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us immediately at support@homebook.tools so we can help secure it.
You may invite other members to your household. By doing so, you authorize them to view and edit the data in that household.

You retain ownership of the data you enter into the Service. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that data for the sole purpose of operating the Service for you and your household members.
How we handle your data — including SMS opt-in data, California rights, and account deletion — is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
You may opt in to our SMS service at homebook.tools/sms by entering a U.S. mobile number and providing active consent (an unchecked-by-default agreement checkbox). On opt-in, you receive a one-time welcome SMS. Once you link a Homebook account, you will also receive (a) one-time verification codes when you add or re-verify your number and (b) short replies to SMS commands you initiate (for example, confirmations of logged expenses). We do not send marketing messages, promotions, or broadcasts.
Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply. Message frequency varies based on your usage. Reply STOP to any message at any time to immediately unsubscribe; your consent is revocable at any time. Reply HELP for support contact information. You can also remove your number from Settings inside the app. We are not liable for messages delayed or undelivered by your carrier.
We aim to keep the Service running reliably, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or reasons outside our control. We are not liable for any loss resulting from downtime.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Service at any time. We'll give reasonable notice for changes that materially affect you.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
Homebook is a tool to help you organize household finances. It is not financial, tax, legal, or accounting advice. Decisions you make based on data in the Service are your own.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from (a) your use of the Service, (b) your violation of these Terms, or (c) your violation of the rights of any third party.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time by emailing support@homebook.tools from the address on your account. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially violate these Terms.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 5, 8, 9, 10, and 13) will continue to apply after termination.
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email to the address on your account at least 7 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and we consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of that right.
